The Holy Bible - our only authority

The Holy Bible: Our only authority

1 minute read

We believe the Holy Bible is our only sacred book. It is the only true word of God. There are no further revelations from God or about of Jesus Christ. It contains 66 books and is divided into the Old and New Testament.

The Bible is without error because it was “divinely inspired.” God the Father spoke to the writers through Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit “breathed’ the Father’s word into the heart and thoughts of the writers (2 Timothy 2:16).

The writers wrote in their heart language and personal styles. Their writings reflect their cultural, political, national and spiritual situations. Many were eyewitnesses, or knew eyewitnesses, to their Biblical accounts (Luke 1:1-4). When we study the Bible, we must remember it is written in the context of Eastern culture.

Physical copies of the Old Testament date back 400 BC and of the New Testament to the 200s AD.

The Holy Bible is consistent from beginning to end and is our final authority about God, our need for salvation, Jesus Christ, morality and civility, and righteous living.

Let's move ahead to the Apostles' Creed.
